WT: FROM PAST TO FUTURE

WT has a proud history of evolving with changing times and seizing opportunities to help our clients shape built environments around the globe.

Our story begins with two quantity surveyors starting their practices on either side of the world: Terry Wolferstan in Australia in 1949 and Len Trower in the UK in 1951. Their paths converged in 1961 when Trower journeyed to Australia, met Wolferstan, and the two agreed to merge their businesses across the hemispheres. This partnership has grown into the WT we know today.

WORLDWIDE GROWTH

Wolferstan and Trower’s 1961 meeting was a defining moment in a pivotal year, which also included WT’s first major project in Asia. The 1970s saw significant growth in Australia, the UK and Asia. As the ’80s boomed, WT opened more offices in Australasia, our UK teams expanded European operations to Spain and Italy, and in Asia we delivered major projects in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Hong Kong.

In the 1990s, recessions challenged the construction industry, but major airport appointments in Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur and large projects in Spain and Portugal kept us thriving. In 1996, WT’s first office in mainland China opened and soon forged a strong reputation for high-rise projects.

Since the turn of the millennium, WT has continued to expand our services and extend our reach across the globe. We’ve further developed our presence in China and South-East Asia, and established ourselves in North America, New Zealand, Germany, India, South Africa and the Middle East.

Today, WT is a leading international cost management and advisory firm with 2,000+ experts across 70+ offices — proud of our long-held reputation for accurate, independent and trusted advice, and excited to lead our industry into the future.

EXPANDING INTO THE MIDDLE EAST

WT’s presence in the Middle East began with opening an office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates in 2018, which is growing rapidly. In 2024 we set up an office in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Our teams in the Middle East work on local and international projects including in the Gulf of Aqaba, the luxury Sindalah resort in the Red Sea, as well as projects in Jeddah, Riyadh, Rwanda and Georgia.
